New release

The Longevity Trap

The playbook for beating inflation, making your money last, and turning your extra decade into the best years of your life.

“The longest chapter of your life may be the one you forgot to plan for.”

You planned for a twenty-year retirement. You may well live thirty. Written for accomplished adults who did everything right, and now need their money and their plans to go the distance.

  1. i.

    Outpace inflation

Keep a fixed plan from quietly shrinking year after year.

  2. ii.

    Make it last

Turn savings into income built to hold for three decades.

  3. iii.

    Use the decade

Plan the extra years for living, not just for lasting.

The library

Eight volumes on keeping
what you've built.

Also by George: Stop, DROP and Roll, retirement guides for first responders, and the foreword to The New Holistic Retirement.

The short version

For a decade, he protected lives. For four decades since, livelihoods.

  1. Wilson Park, South Philadelphia

    The oldest of seven.

He grew up poor in a public housing project, bullied almost every day. That is where the instinct came from: someone has to protect the weak and the innocent.

  2. U.S. Army · NATO HQ, Belgium

    Military Police.

A decorated MP on the security detail of the Supreme Allied Commander. In his spare time he trained as an Army EMT and worked the emergency room at Landstuhl Army Medical Center.

  3. Pennsylvania State Police Academy

    Paramedic. SWAT officer.

First in his class at the academy while earning paramedic certification at night. A decade of service, a dozen lives saved, and commendations for taking down muggers and armed drug dealers.

  4. Since 1985

    The ledger.

Banker, tax professional and CFP®. Founder and CEO of McReynolds & Company, LLC and Chief Tax Strategist at PersonalTaxPlans.com, helping couples and individuals build and safeguard what they've earned.

Redesign proposal

What the current site gets wrong

  1. It reads as a template. The name is set in Belleza, the body in Source Sans and Inter, and the "Buy Now" button is a default purple. Nothing says George.
  2. The best story is hidden. He went from Wilson Park housing to MP at NATO HQ, then SWAT and paramedic, then 40 years as a CFP®. All of it sits on the About page.
  3. No proof above the fold. Oxford, the London Stock Exchange, the Harvard Club, CNN and the FT never appear on the homepage.
  4. Titles overpower the page. 56px book titles wrap to seven lines, the title repeats under each cover, and every blurb is cut off with "…".
  5. Only 3 of 8 books are shown. His contributor and foreword work is invisible.
  6. The calls to action are weak. "Signup for news and special offers!" and a bare contact form don't give anyone a reason to act.
  7. No compliance footer. CFP® mark usage and an advisory disclosure are missing.

Concept: The Protector's Ledger

George has done one job his whole life, protecting people. The threats changed from muggers to stealth taxes. The design borrows the visual language of things built to be trusted: banknote engraving (guilloché rosettes, serial numbers, an oval engraved portrait), share certificates and a notary's seal. It is printed in ink green and brass on bone paper.

Typography

Libre Caslon Display
Libre Caslon Text Italic
Schibsted Grotesk for interface, labels and body copy

Caslon is the face the Declaration of Independence was first printed in, in Philadelphia, George's hometown. It reads as old money and earned trust without the Playfair/Cormorant look every AI site defaults to. Schibsted Grotesk was drawn for a Scandinavian news publisher, so it's sturdy and journalistic rather than "startup". All three are free on Google Fonts.
